Our Services

Core Services

In-Home Senior Care

Daily support that protects independence and dignity.

Who it's for

From a few hours of help each week to overnight or 24/7 care, our caregivers support the everyday routines that help your loved one stay safe, comfortable, and connected at home.

This can include:

  • Bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting support
  • Meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry
  • Mobility, transfers, and fall-prevention support
  • Medication reminders and daily routines
  • Companionship, errands, appointments, and transportation
  • Overnight and 24/7 home care

Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care

Specialized care built around familiarity, routine, and respect.

Who it's for

Dementia can change memory, communication, judgement, mood, and daily routines. Our dementia-informed caregivers provide calm, consistent support while our nurses help the care plan adapt as needs change.

Support can include:

  • Personal care and familiar daily routines
  • Calm communication and gentle redirection
  • Meaningful activities based on interests and abilities
  • Home safety monitoring and fall-prevention strategies
  • Meals, hydration, and consistent daily structure
  • Respite, overnight, and 24/7 dementia care

Medical Care at Home

Skilled nursing support in the comfort of home.

Who it's for

When health needs become more complex, our nursing team brings clinical care into the home and coordinates with your loved one’s broader healthcare team when needed.

Licensed nursing care can include:

  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Medication administration and injections
  • Ostomy, catheter, and continence care
  • Chronic condition monitoring
  • Post-surgical and recovery support
  • Palliative and end-of-life care

Disability Support at Home

Flexible support built around the person, not a standard care package.

Who it's for

We work with individuals and families to provide practical support that respects autonomy, abilities, routines, health needs, and personal goals—at home and in the community.

Support can include:

  • Personal care with respect for choice and autonomy
  • Mobility, transfers, positioning, and equipment support
  • Meals, household routines, and errands
  • Medication and nursing support when required
  • Appointments, work, school, and community participation
  • Respite, overnight, and 24/7 support

Family Support & Respite Care

Reliable help for the people doing the caring.

Who it's for

Family caregivers often carry far more than anyone else sees. We provide respite and practical care support so you can rest, work, travel, manage other responsibilities, or simply spend time with your loved one as family again.

We can support your family with:

  • Respite care for a few hours, overnight, or longer
  • Care transition support after hospital or rehabilitation
  • Coordination across caregivers and healthcare providers
  • Clear family updates and a consistent point of contact
  • Guidance on CDHCI and available home care options
  • Support as care needs increase or change

In-Home Physician Care

Medical appointments at home when getting to a clinic is difficult.

Who it's for

For clients with limited mobility, complex health needs, or a difficult recovery, an in-home physician visit can reduce the strain of transportation and help connect medical recommendations with the care already happening at home.

In-home physician care can include:

  • Medical assessment and follow-up at home
  • Medication review
  • Chronic condition management
  • Post-hospital follow-up
  • Coordination with the nurse-led home care team
  • Referrals and recommended next steps when required

“We don’t just care for people—we care about them.” — Denise, Founder & Nurse

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do I know what kind of home care my loved one needs?

You do not need to figure that out before you call us. We start with a conversation about what is happening now, what your family is worried about, and what support would make daily life safer or more manageable. From there, our nurse can recommend the next step.

  2. Will my loved one have the same caregiver?

Continuity is one of our priorities. We aim to build a small, consistent care team around each client so your loved one can develop trust with familiar caregivers. Backup coverage may occasionally be needed, but we work to minimize unnecessary changes.

  3. Are your caregivers trained?

Yes. Caregivers are selected for their experience, skill, reliability, and ability to connect with clients and families. They receive ongoing support and guidance from Ascent’s nurse-led team, with additional training based on the needs of the clients they serve.

  4. Can Ascent provide overnight or 24/7 home care?

Yes. We provide overnight and 24/7 support for families who need continuous assistance, supervision, dementia care, complex medical support, or additional peace of mind at home.

  5. Can I use Alberta government funding with Ascent Home Care?

Ascent Home Care is an approved provider under Alberta’s Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI) program. Eligibility and funded services are determined through Alberta Health Services. If your loved one is approved, our team can help you understand the setup and care process.

  6. What if my loved one’s needs change?

Home care should be able to change with the person receiving it. Our nurse-led team can review the care plan and adjust support as health, mobility, routines, safety needs, or family circumstances change.

  7. How quickly can care begin?

Timing depends on the type of care required, scheduling, caregiver availability, and any clinical needs. The best first step is a free consultation so we can understand the situation and explain what can happen next.

  8. Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. Our care is designed to be flexible so families can adjust the level of support as circumstances change. We will explain service agreements, scheduling, and any notice requirements before care begins.
